The Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future Food Policy Network project maintains a comprehensive directory of food policy councils across North America. This directory was founded on information gathered by the Community Food Security Coalition in May 2012. Beginning in 2013, the FPN has conducted an annual survey of the food policy councils in the directory to update information including any changes in contact information, goals, and governance structures. A more thorough report on these trends is available in Food Policy Councils in North America: 2015 Trends (2015).
Food Policy Councils at Work
We are frequently asked about what various food policy councils have achieved as a result of their efforts. Drawing a cause and effect line with any collaboration is not easy. We combed the FPC census data from 2015 and used it to highlight some examples of how FPCs are contributing to a equitable, healthy, and sustainable food system.
If you would like to update your council's information or add a new council to the directory and map, please fill out the respective forms.
