Food Policy Council Directory
About this Directory
The Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future began collecting information about food policy councils across the United States and Canada in 2012. This directory contains contact information, website and social media addresses, governance structure, top priorities, and notable accomplishments for each food policy council. The directory is updated with information collected in a survey of FPCs every 12–18 months. While we previously included food policy councils in Canada in the directory, in 2020 the Food Communities Network (Réseau Communautés Nourricières) assumed responsibility for maintaining a directory of food policy groups in Indigenous Territories/Canada.
To use the directory, select a state from the drop down list. Food policy councils will appear in alphabetical order for the selected state. Click on the food policy council name to see more information about the council.
Each entry is tagged with the jurisdiction level at which the council works: city/municipality, county, state, regional, or tribal/indigenous. Some state level councils or organizations may also be tagged with “food systems networks”; these groups network or convene local food policy councils within a state or region. Some entries may also be tagged with “under development” indicating that these councils were still forming at the time of entry into the directory.
An additional tag shows councils that were still under development at the time of entry.
