The Power of Food Forum is going virtual! Same dates, (mostly) same program, and now in many places. We were so hopeful back in February about bringing our network together in-person for the first time when it looked like COVID-19 might be controlled well enough to get together in September. Unfortunately, that optimism has faded as we watch the hospitals fill up, and the positivity rates for COVID infections continue to increase nationally, particularly in the Kansas City region. After consulting with Johns Hopkins University epidemiology and infectious disease specialists, we have decided to transition from an in-person event to a virtual gathering. We are concerned about the escalating COVID infection rates due to the Delta variant, including breakthrough transmission and illness among vaccinated people. As much as we want to be with you, we believe the safest course is to move to a virtual event.
